This really isn't a sale rather an everyday price for LCD tv...

I need a cheap 1080P 42" is this any good? I was thinking if I bought this with the 3 year warranty would it be worth it? From square trade? I think you can buy a warranty from costco for 39 bucks and the TV doesn't even have to bought from costco since costco just sells you a squartrade warranty anyway.

Also @ walmart the Vizio LED is like 40 bucks more. Is it worth the upgrade from LCD?

Is there a better TV I should be looking at for the same price range?

Thanks!

Vizio tvs are very good quality i have 3 of them and there reasonable prices ?

and LED is considerable better than LCD but either is great ?

Led is simply how it is back lit... the panel itself is an LCD. So every led is an LCD. So you are asking if it is an upgrade from an LCD to an LCD? I would have to know specific models

For $40 I'd go with LED. Generally thinner, longer life, and less power required.

But heck, under $400 for a quality 42"...

Since when are Vizio's considered "quality" tvs? Will they explode in your face as soon as you set them up? Probably not. Does any enthusiast recommend Vizio these days? Ha!

OP is asking for a cheap 42". Recommend a Hisense or something to him. The cheap ones all come from the same place anyway.

I paid $1200 for my 120Hz 42" Visio a few years ago and I'm very happy with it, I doubt the WM version is a 120Hz, but for $400 I don't think you could go wrong with Visio.

It's a good price, just make sure it's actually 1080p. A lot of these cheaper sets are only 720p. Check the contrast ratio (actual) and response time as well.

As for LED versus traditional cold cathode back light, it doesn't matter. The big advantage with LED is it's thinner, runs cooler and uses less electricity. It should last longer too. Picture quality is about the same from my experience. For only $40 more, I'd get it.

May be a non-factor, but a friend just got a Vizio 22'' LED for his kitchen, and cannot get his sat box remote to control it. Harmony remote does not have it in it's device list either, so he is stuck having to use two remotes. Just a word to the wise.

Wow thats cheaper than online (walmart.com). The 60hz 42" shows at $428 and the 120hz shows at $498 (both 1080p).

I'd jump on it 🙂

They're not. They're very good budget TV's.

Vizio is a brand like Insignia . The quality changes depending on the day of the week. Today it might be made by samsung, tomorrow it may be funai, whomever is willing to do it the cheapest at the time. If it breaks you might as well toss it because nobody likes to work on the brand.
