Hey guys,

I'm currently looking to purchase a wall mount for my Philips Ambilight 37" LCD TV. The model number is 37PF9631D/37.

I currently know nothing about mounts. My manual for the TV says to get a VESA compliant mount, however, on a lot of websites the mount for this TV is listed as a VESA 800mm x 400 mm standard.

Now I'm looking for the cheapest mount that I can get and I know a good place to look is monoprice.com, but while there I checked the specifications and all their mounts are for a VESA 750mm x 450mm standard.

Can someone clear this up for me? Will I absolutely have to get a 800mm x 400mm mount? The cheapest one I am able to find is flush for 60 bucks and tilting for 70 bucks.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions

Im pretty sure the monoprice mounts will work fine. they have quite a few mounting holes to account for different sizes of tvs and im pretty sure your philips tv uses somewhat standard mounting pattern.

That's what I was hoping but it seems like if the mount pattern is 800x400 I don't know why a 750x450 mount would work, the 750 is off by 50 mm.

What type of wall mount? A tilt/fixed from monoprice will almost definitely work, whereas usually a cantilever mount would generally need the specific vesa pattern. The flat/tilt mounts have two separate bars that are screwed to the TV's mounting holes and allow the television to hang from the portion of the mount that is bolted to the wall.

I'm just looking for a tilt one, the ones at monoprice are tempting but I don't want to spend 30 bucks just to have to return it.

I just didn't know if the 800x400 VESA was going to be too big for a tilting mount from monoprice that says it supports 750x450 VESA.

yeah, I think you're right, did the math and the 800mm spacing would make it a bit to large. (roughly 31.5" between mounting holes + width of the brackets that go on the TV would put it beyond the 32" of the wall portion of the bracket.) I'd verify that measurement because that seems very wide for a TV of that size, but, it is a phillips so...

Peerless on amazon

Sanus also sells a variable width mount Sanus.

EDIT: Yeah, but they are both a little bit more money that the monoprice. I have found the sanus to be a very nice mount for pretty much any tv.

Also, if you feel like getting creative, you could use two of the smaller mounts and space the on the wall where you need them. You might have more issues getting it level however. ;)

Thanks for that info, I know the other day I found a tilting mount for about 60-70 bucks that would definitely fit my Philips tv..

I did take the tv down just now and measured the space in between the holes and it seems like they are very near to 32 inches apart.

Kinda sucks that philips decided to do that on a 37 inch tv, but oh well.
