I was thinking how walking places isn't very common anymore. Amongst my friends, we never think to walk places, we always drive. It seems there are lots of joys that we may be missing. What do you think? Is there something to walking?

I walk to classes everyday. When we hit up the bars, we always walk. I enjoy walking and it keeps me in shape.

I don't much care for walking unless I'm with some other people.

When I walk by myself, I get bored easily. :)

I hate walking because it's slow. I'll drive, bike, swim, run, kayak, or rollerblade somewhere before I walk.

Walking places is great although no one walks anywhere in Atlanta because:

-It's too freaking hot during the summer

-We have no sidewalks

-Everything you need is at least 5 miles away in different directions.

Hence, I do most of my non-car scooting around on my bicycle.

walking is ok, but wastes energy since you have to stop and move the other leg, and repeat the process. you lose all the inertia you build up.

other than that, its not bad.

No, you just have to do it enough to where you build up some endurance....kind of like neffing.<ahem>;)

I walk to work and school, unless my girlfriend wants to give me a ride. I'm going to buy a bike, though.

I walk about 4 hours each morning. It's a great stress reliever plus it is also great exercise. Of course I live in a Country/Farm setting so the view is magnificent.

hmmm that would give me about 3 hours to walk....nah. i am SO not a morning person. i suppose if i didn't have to just walk around my neighborhood (like i do) and actually had some sort of scenery it wouldn't be as bad. looking at the same house every lap is kinda boring.

My walk/hike takes me alongside a river (I see Rabbits, Quail, Red Tail Hawks) then to some canals, by some farms, through an Almond Orchard and finally to a Strawberry Field (they are in season now) Having a portable MP3 player makes it a lot nicer.

Yeah....beautiful pastoral scenery can be pretty damn stressful without some tunes along to take the edge off.;)

Nice. :)

By the way, does your early morning walk have anything to do with your alias? What does "Red Dawn" mean any ways?

No. Red Dawn is the name of a stupid Movie. I needed a handle when I first posted 4 years ago and I just picked that one out of the air.

Oh I see. You used to be a member here back in UBB days? Or was this a different forum?

I was around before there was an offtopic forum. In fact I was around before the Non Hardware general Forum which was later changed to Off Topic.
