Walking on a treadmill...

I'm trying to lose some excess weight on my fat ass, so I've completely changed my diet and cut my daily intake from around 3000 calories to probably 1500 - 1750 calories per day. I've also been walking on a treadmill at night before I goto bed for varying amounts of time depending on how tired I am...

Here is my question. For fat burning, is it better to walk at a brisk pace (120bpm pulse) for say 60 minutes or at a fast pace (150bpm pulse) for 20-25 minutes? I'm 21 years old, 6' 1" and somewhere around 330-350lbs. I haven't weighed myself in a while as personally think it's counterproductive to losing weight. My scale is how many new holes I have to punch in my belt. I've added two in the last few months adding up to around 4 inches.

Anyway, what do you guys think? 60minutes at 120bpm or 20minutes at 150bpm?

Run! 😉 Seriously, though, I have no clue. I would think that you should go as fast as possible for as long as possible.

Exercise at a lower heart rate is better for fat burning, IIRC -- exercise at a higher rate is better for cardiovascular shape.

I'd also like to add that it's good that you are doing something for yourself. Good luck on your endeavor. 🙂

excercise longer at a less pace, just having to support your butt is excercise in itself. 😀 😛

You can do it and stay off the scale for a few months, otherwise you'll get discouraged and eat a Burger King.
