I can't say I'm hugely impressed with what I see but we can't expect much from what will surely be a console port. If they can do a good job with the story and decision-making (branching story) then I could see it being enjoyable.

Activision has released a gameplay trailer for its upcoming zombie survival adaptation.

Telltale’s take on the Walking Dead story was arguably the best game released last year. That game was essentially an interactive narrative which acts as a sidequel to the graphic novels. This new game, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct (formerly titled: AMC's The Walking Dead Video Game) from Activision, is a first-person stealth adventure which serves as a prequel to the television show.

Different developer, source media, graphical style, and ludic genre; it seems like we shouldn’t be able to make much of a comparison between the games, but they do have something in common: the attempt to recreate the stress and high-strung emotions of a survival situation, by forcing the player to make difficult decisions.

Coming out summer, 2002 on the Xbox. Also 1024X768 graphics setting for future proofing on PC games!

Jokes aside, this video should be pulled immediately by the developer. I mean RIGHT NOW. Even ignoring the terrible frame rates at one point and the video issues in the latter half (whatever it's called when you look around and the top half lags the bottom--go to 1:02 to see it worse with the blue vehicle as it crosses the screen), just looked straight-up generic as hell.

I realize (hope) the music is there because they don't have the audio finalized, but this video just looks thoroughly underwhelming.

EDIT: Haha, I posted the above before even seeing this comment on OP's link:

"do I need to get my PS2 from the attic or what happened?"

i didnt quite like the graphics, but they were not THAT bad... the gameplay looked bad and boring as shit

Looks like a mod, or something with as little effort as possible put into it.

A game like this should be all about great art direction and atmosphere - - creating a feeling of dread.

That was about as tense as a pancake.

I'm afraid that the success of the Telltale game is putting pressure on them to get this out the door and capitalize on it.

I wonder how old this video is? For all we know this is an early alpha version from six months ago.

If it is released and looks anything like this we can conclude that the walking dead brand is whoring itself out.

Ign reports Mar 29 release from this. I expect it will be a 10-20 dollar download or something, certainly not a AAA title. Also don't expect the Lego hair or terrible graphics to be improved IMO.

This, uh, gem comes out in 3 days. Preorder now on amazon for $38 probably tells you all you need to know. I will eat crow if it's actually decently reviewed 😉

My expectations are very, very low for this.

So low that it will be impossible to be disappointed. 🙂

I'm going to try it out tonight. I'll post my impressions later.

Avoid this like the plague.

I'm a huge WD fan and I lasted around an hour. The controls and visuals are right out of 2005. The voice-overs are hokey at best. All around just not good.

A $4.99 title not a $49.99 title.
