Found this little ah heck in the sink, scared the crap out of me at first, then I went and got my camera. Amazing little creatures... I put him on a piece of paper and let him go, as spider kill other household pests.

I'm guessing it's a Wolf Spider of some sort, but I could be wrong.

Spiders are COOL! 😀

Jugs

btw, Just for scale, the spider was about ½ inch long...

Yeah, probably came up the sinkhole. One similar to that came up my bathroom sinkhole a couple of days ago. Should have let it hang around for the wife to see it. Naaahhhhh, flushed it back down where it came from.

Yep, exactly where it came from! I walked in and turned on the water only to see this little guy jump out of the hole and throw his front legs up like was trying to attack the water. Then he started scurrying up the sides and just kept sliding down.

Comp625, I have a Olympus C4000 Zoom. Great camera, though if I would have had better lighting I've produced MUCH better results with it in the past.

What is it with you people and your spider phobias? I swear half of ATOT wets their pants at the sight of anything with eight legs.

If I remember correctly, spiders are the biggest phobia, even bigger than death. I personally think they are neat, though I'm not sure what I would do with a Tarranchula (sp?).

Wow, that's a big one. Looks like a wolf spider to me.

I personally don't have a problem with spiders, except the poisonous variety. My wife freaks out over spiders so I usually end up having to take them outside or squish them.

I'm the same way, we had a bunch of Black Widows in our garage about a month after moving in. I smoke bombed those fsckers!

I just look out for the Brown Recluse. We have a fair number of those around here and I don't care to have an rotting ulcerous hole on my skin.

Not much. They aren't the most active things in the world. A friend of had one years ago. They're kinda neat-looking, but that's about it.

Seriously, what is the deal? There are so few spiders in the world that can even make you mildly ill were they to bite you and yet people scream like little girls at the sight of them.

Actually, most of AT are scared of anything with legs, especially the ones with two legs and two boobies.

I actually did get tagged by a Recluse. Made an amazingly nasty wound on my forearm.

Even so, the odds of it happening again are vanishingly small. They are aptly named as you'll never see them out and about. You pretty much have to stumble across one while cleaning the crawlspace or something.
