Trust an American to turn a fist fight into a gun fight. :disgust:

Why should innocent people suffer a beat down if they try everything possible to avoid the conflict (which they didn't even instigate)?

If you have a CCW, can you legally draw your weapon in defense if you are threatened by seemingly unarmed people?

maybe not on one guy, but 3, 4 or more all threatening you? That seems justified.

why would anyone want to live in a place where they feel they must carry a gun?

I live in a place where I can leave my door unlocked at night and sleep soundly...

i've only had to face that once.. and i just walked away.. it was probably more embarassing for the guy cause his girl was flirting with me.. and we had a whole wall between us so it wasn't really all that threatening, he and his buddies were cussing me out from a window...

if they actually came out, i guess i might have stayed to fight.. i had a few guys they had a few guys, but they were big white guys, and we're average asian guys.. eh, in the end, i'm glad i just walked away...

You can only use your gun if you reasonably believe that your life is in immediate risk.

Obviously the OP did not believe that he was about to be killed therefore the use of deadly force was not warranted. That is even more evident by the fact that he walked away with all parties completely unscathed.

"Walk away or take the beating?"

Walk away. I know at least three people who are convicted felons because they decided to fight instead of walking away.

When adults fight someone can get seriously hurt or killed.

Hopefully after walking away, the other person(s) don't decide to go for the sucker punch anyway.

To quote one of my personal idols:

"Karate gives us the privilege of courtesy"

To actually tie it back to the OP, you were being the bigger man by walking away. Congrats.

Why is it always fair for the bigger man to intimidate the smaller guy? Walk away????? That makes no sense... How is it fair/right for the bigger guy to make fun of the smaller guy. What happens if the smaller guy is with a girl? Its called dignity... so its okay for the bigger man to take away the guys dignity -- in front of his girl that he's trying to impress?

Its unfair. Just because someone can walk over a smaller person because they are bigger doesn't make it right. I say if people "really" want to fight. Bring out the guns. Everyone has rights too. Everyone should be allowed to have dignitiy. Its like calling someone's mom a biatch and a hole.... its not right... people should not be allowed to do it. People should not be made to "just walk away" like a coward.

Big tough guys who want to fight... do it in the boxing ring or the wrestling matt.. or the Ultimate fighting circuits... But bring it to the real world where people just want to live their lives peacefull... I have no qualms about bringing out the guns.. In a civilized environment, fighting is for idiiots who are asking for a 9mm bullet to the head...

One does not shoot people who are only using their fists. It is wrong, and cowardly. End.

Fvcktards like that should be permanently removed from society. If only there was a button.:gift:

On one hand you used your head and didn't get beaten to a pulp...

On the other hand being where you were? You aren't that smart to begin with..

I side with not shooting people, is that so difficult to understand?

If someone punches you - punch back. Only a coward would use a firearm for 'defense' in this case.

Actually, what's hard to understand is why you would take it. If it's completely unprovoked (as was the OPs situation), would you simply start fighting for no reason? I know I wouldn't. I'd do as the OP did and turn and walk away. I'm not going to get hit for something I haven't done - and those drunk asses would learn it the hard way. The gun wouldn't come out till there was no other option.

No option other than fighting fair that is.

I don't fight fair. As I mentioned, I am not going to get hit for something I didn't do. If I have to put a lead hurtin' on bunch of drunken walking Darwin winners, so be it.

Situation 1: Assholes walk up to you, you get punched in the face, you punch back. Punches and kicks and whatever else are thrown until you either win or you lose. Worst case you get a broken nose and and a broken rib have a sh1t night.

Situation 2: Assholes walk up to you, you get punched in the face, you pull a firearm and start shooting. Worst case you kill them all along with at least one innocent bystander - remember the street is packed and you are (probably) not a professional marksman.

Which is worse?

You forgot situation 3: Assholes gang up on you and beat the sh!t out of you because you have so much honor you wanted to defend yourself fairly. Just because you are civilized and have "honor" doesn't mean your opponents do.

It's a no win situation. (a) Take down the coward and get ganged up on by his buddies or (b) walk away. I guess (b) is more palatable if you can come up with a good parting shot (verbal).

Either way they're trash. Don't let them get to you.

Three 6'5" thugs against one 5'6" law-abiding citizen, and the 5'6" person is at fault for losing? What kind of idiot are you to believe that a non-aggressor is at fault for losing a fight, and not the assholes that started it? That's the stupidest thing I have ever read on this forum.

Uhhh...why would you feel bad about turning and walking away?! Dumbass boys get into stupid fights like that - a MAN turns and walks away in that situation.

exactly

The fact that the OP is nearly 30 and is just now beginning to figure this out is a little worrying.

Some people dont ever figure it out. At least he is on the right track. :)

Maybe next year he will figure out that you do not have to go "clubbing" to have a good time. Drink, dance and hang out in the safety and privacy of your own home. Hell, pop in a DVD and save another $10 a head!

Can you imagine if Atheus was a rape counselor? Mame, you should have trained harder or ran faster, it's your fault this happened. You made the right choice in not using that gun you had on him. A life is precious, even a thug's and it's far the better that this happen to you rather than your attacker lose his life. Only a coward would pull a gun on an unarmed attacker regardless of the fact that he had two guys helping him.

Stupid, STUPID idea IMO. What if they were packing heat, too? GG. There's no reset button on life.
