When you return something at Wal-Mart, like a lot of places, they enter your DL# into the computer. This is obviously to track your returns. Does anyone know what the limit is and what the time period is?

Be grateful they are giving you a return

They don't have to

If you have the receipt they don't ask you for your DL
at least not here ;)

<< He means be thankful to WalMart for allowing you to return your product. >>

Uh yeah, I know what he meant. What f-ing reputable retailer on the planet does not allow returns? Please let me know so I can avoid them.

well, what he's saying is that if you are even asking this you are most likely abusing Wal-Mart's very lenient policy. If you are not, keep your receipt when you buy something THERE and return it, they won't ask for your liscense.

i think if you have a receipt its stupid for them to ask for your DL, my wal-mart never did that, guess every one is different. Anyway, if you really want to know, ask the people at customer service.

Tim

from your profile you are in mexico, maybe wal-marts there are different, beats me.

Try saying "I would rather not share that information."

Thats what I say when Radio Shack, Circuit City, etc. ask for my address when I am just buying a USB cable or some batteries. They will always allow me to skip it.

The “limit” that they tell you is 3 returns per 90 days with a drivers license (i.e. without a receipt) but the system only keeps track of the license number for 45 days.

Never had this happen at all. What if you don't drive, that means you can't return anything?

You have almost 47,000 posts and this thread was made before you joined. I don't really have anything to add to the thread, was just an interesting observation.

When dollar stores have had the same merchandise as Walmart for lower prices people have made money returning dollar store purchases to Walmart in large quantities. They get your DL # when returning without a receipt so that if they get more returns than they sold they can figure out who to prosecute for fraud.
