Wal-Mart wanted to show that they do not cause wages to go down or that they cause more people to have to relay on goverment programs like Medicaid etc...
So they paid for a study to prove they were right... OPPS... guess what. They DO cause wages to go down and people to have to get on more welfare programs like Medicaid. So says THEIR study they paid for.

WASHINGTON ? Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) lowers consumer costs and adds jobs but has also led to a decline in wages and an increase in the number of people relying on government aid for health care, studies released on Friday show.

Seems Wallys chief financial officer backed out after learning of what the study was going to say. I guess wal-mart expected everything to be true as they have said it so many times they believe their own BS now.

Schoewe was scheduled to speak at the conference here but had to cancel at the last minute for an undisclosed reason.

I saw that report and I believe it also said that Wal-mart 'saved' the average shopper $897 over last year (or something to that effect). So (unless they were just 'spinning' it) it appears that Wal-Mart overall savings to the public as a whole, outweighs the negatives of lower wages/welfare.

That's what I got from it anyway

So basically it's okay that the rest of us are paying for YOUR CHEAP ASS to save money by buying immoral sweatshop produced products. Must be the New Capitalism or something.

the problem with walmart is that they save you money in front of your face, while screwing you with other things in the back

Those go together and answer the other.
Yes YOU save money up front but you pay more when your taxs go up from the new people on govermanet welfare programs, lost jobs in the retail sector, etc...

The penny or two you saved while shopping for walmart is not enough for me to screw the taxpayer.

So, obviously they aren't responsible for putting anyone out of business, if they don't have the lowest price, eh?

The WHOLE story is every damn store you shop at, is selling shlt from sweatshops!

So you are saying the Canon 5.0 MP PowerShot S2 IS is made at a sweatshop? Have proof? As I can not only show you pictures but show wages that are paid to make all those little things from China. THOSE are sweatshops.

My wife's employer.

My employer buys mine too. If I bought mine, it would be in the hundreds a month.

Just a note:

Your employer never buys your health insurance. They merely add it in as a part of your salary. Your benefits package is just an extension of your salary. YOU are buying your health insurance with your productivity.

That's like saying roads are free. They aren't. Your taxes pay for them.
