Which one is best these days? Any actually worth paying for?

GPE 4.4.4 is giving me way too much Android System drain.

Unless you're rooted, nothing works like it did before 4.4
If you're rooted - Wakelock Detector (WLD) or Better Battery Stats (BBS)
BBS is free on XDA.

Not much of help currently, but Android L will have a built app that will look those up or maybe an API that will bring WLD/BBS functionality.

I am rooted, of course. How else would I be running a GPE ROM on Verizon? :D

Thanks for the tip on the XDA thread. Downloaded and bookmarked.

Cool. Usualy wake lock offenders > Google+ and Google Play Services. Most people Greenify those. For me, it wasn't wakelock problem it was the terrible FB app that would take battery. Since I went back to stock and not installed FB, battery life is so much better.

It may be GP Services. Funny thing was that on 4.4.2 AOSP I had no issues except for very occasional kamikaze drains I assume were from the camera drain bug. Same G+ setup and everything.

That whole FB bug I don't get. I stopped Greenifying FB and I can get something like 0.7-0.9% drain per hour for my phone on idle. If FB is really a drainer, its not much because Greenifying doesn't make a difference on my end. However, that's with wakelock terminator on to eliminate nlpcollectorwakelocks.

If I turn that off, the drain is more like 2% / hr.

Edit: To answer the OP, I use a combination of BBS and Wakelock Detector. Both excellent. I use the former mostly though.

GP Services has it's own line when you check battery use. Android System (the main drain culprit) is separate from that. Seems it is still the camera drain bug. My Note 3 had been doing almost 2 days with a single charge until 4.4.2 came along (was 4.3) and I've dropped to just over 1 day. I was going to factory reset but since I had "nothing to lose" I uninstalled Instagram and it seems to be *somewhat* better now. I had uninstalled a bunch of other apps over a week and that didn't do anything.

Eh, I went back to my AOSP-based ROM (OctOS, which recently updated to 4.4.4) and all the non-screen drains are back to single digits. There's just something screwy with the GPE kernel/ROM.

Got the same wakelock issue from TW 4.4.2. Bah. Back to AOSP again, maybe try out CM or Carbon this time before the big "L".
