Not too long ago I put a HIS ATI Radeon 1800GTO PCI-Express video card in my PC (omg is it big!) and off and on since then - more often recently - when I wake the computer up out of standby it either has artifacts all over the screen or simply reboots. In either case, almost every time I wake up out of standby I have to restart the computer. Otherwise, the card works fine for playing games and such - never a problem. It *only* happens when I wake up from standby.
The error Windows reports is "Thread stuck in device driver". It suggests updating the video driver, which I have done, but it keeps happening. And it seems the longer the pc is in standby, the more likely it will happen.
The other strange thing, though less of a concern, when I start Firefox for the first time the screen will go black as it loads. Very odd.
I have tried the newest drivers from both the ATI and HIS site, and neither have done much good. I've tried overclocking and resetting the card (sometimes it resets itself at the reboot anyway). The temperatures for the card and the system seem fine. I've tried all different settings to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?
Specs are:
Video Card: HIS ATI Radeon 1800GTO 256MB (PCI-Express)
2 GB PC3200 RAM
Athlon 64 3800+ CPU
MSI K8N Neo4 Motherboard
Thanks for any advice!
