Wake-On-LAN (WOL) only works when the computer is turned off. The computer will not "wake-on-LAN" if the computer is suspended (S1, S3, or S1&S3) or if the computer is in hibernation. The BIOS is not set to wake up by WOR, USB, or Alarm.
The motherboard is a Foxconn 6150BK8MC-KRSHN2, and has never given me any problems. I just updated to the latest BIOS to see if that would correct the problem; nope. It runs WinXP Pro.
I use the computer as a file server and would love to allow the computer to hibernate or suspend itself whenever I am not accessing files remotely. WOL is fairly reliable if I always shut off the computer manually, but that is not always going to happen. Any ideas?
