I was wondering if there was any service that would send a WAKE ON LAN packet to turn your computer on at certain times. I would like to have my computer turn on every morning by it self and it is capable of WON.
You should be able to set your BIOS to turn your computer on every morning at a certain time. The settings should be under 'Power Managment' or something resembling that at least.
Just a great post friends.
Any working software to shut PC off at certain time?
Leaving it on at night when family isn't using networked cable modem connected to my PC eats up power and makes my room hot.

Don't you have to have the WOL 3-wire connector connected from the NIC to the appropriate connector on the mobo? The new NIC I put in my Dell (Linksys LNX-100) supports WOL and comes with the little 3-pin connector wire. Just curious, because I'm trying to turn the DinkyDell into a server that will run 24/7 and this feature interests me yet I know very little about it. Thanks.
For win98, you can use the C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 2 command. In this case, it will restart the computer. If you change that last number (in this case a 2) to a 1, it will shutdown and 3 will restart you in DOS mode. I have a generic win98 file server here at work that is set to reboot once a week via the Task Scheduler.
I have that RTC alarm setting in my bios. but I want my computer to automaticallu turn on everyday at 6:00 AM. I have to enter in a day for the RTC to work. How do I make it so it works on all the days of the month ?
