Wake on Lan - How do u get it to work?

Ive just popped a Netgear FA312 WOL NIC in my dads puter.
Ive set the bios for WOL but i aint got a clue how u wake it up from standby?
Seein as the PC is assigned its IP by DHCP how am i goin to get it to wake up? Do u need some special software?
Netgears product literature says nothing apart from where to put the WOL cable.

Do you have a WOL connector in your motherboard ? Basically you connect that WOL into the motherboard and enable WOL in BIOS, and then go install software on another machine that sends the packet to wake up the computer..
