Waiting for Penryn?

I know when C2D came out I really wanted to build a new system. My current system was been working fine though and I didn't have any apps that didn't run well on it so I decided to wait.

I think I will keep my current system another year. I won't be going Vista this year.

I think by the end of the year, and into early 2008 I will be ready for a new system. Penryn should be out by then in 45 nm and I am sure AMD will have something similar.

I think I will just wait.

Yeah same here...

since pcie 2.0 is coming out mid year, i would wait since you're not in a hurry

pcie 2.0 double the signal rate from 2.5 to 5.0 each x16 can go up to 16GBps

Intel is releasing pcie 2.0 with the bearlake chipset.. so there'll be more choices.. you can pick pcie 1.0 or 2.0 and it'll definitely drive mobo prices down for pcie 1.0

Im waiting until penryn and the AMD equivalent come out, and im selling my single core 939/ddr rig for a quad core ddr2, sli DX10 monster. Ill probably have to take out a loan to afford it, but oh well.

You're joking right? A loan for a PC?

penryn isn't supposed to comeout for a while though. sometime later this year. but you can't wait forever. something new always comes out. if you need it, then upgrade. me? i'm still fine with an AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+ OC'ed to 2.2Ghz. it's enough for me.

If you need a loan just for a computer, you shouldn't be considering spending that much on something you probably don't even need. Just some advice from an 18 year old...

Sure I can. I can wait as long as my current system works.

For me, there is no reason to upgrade to Conroe right now. However in a year there may be a reason for me.

Maybe he meant he wanted to buy it on a credit card. I work at Wal-Mart and I'm not rich right now. But, I did apply elsewhere although I'm also spending my time reading on the financial markets. After some losses several years ago, I think I know so much now I'm just going to go for it. I started reading again on the financial markets last year. heh

i might wait...if it comes out in the summer im definitely getting it, but it doesnt look it. ill probably get an E6650/E6750 or a cheap E6600/E6700. who knows...

I've been financially stupid. Look at my sig... I bought this CPU rite when it came out for $1000. Oh well, you live and (hopefully) learn. 🙂

Ouch. Some are probably thinking that a C2D would walk all over it at 1/4 the cost, but C2Ds weren't even out when you bought that CPU. Ya gotta pay to play. 🙂
