Waiting for my eBay NEg feedback...

Here's the condensed version...

I listed Vonage referrals on ebay - $1 - get back $15 from me after 90 days. I get 2 months credit, and they got 1 from vonage.

Buyer selects me, I send referral. He signs up. Vonage at that point gives me credit, but if they discontinue within 90 days, they take it back - it's happened once to me so far.

So this buyer after 2 week, emails me telling me to send him the money. I replied, telling him I will after 90 days, if the vonage credit it there, and explained why. And pointed out that it was very clearly spelled out in the auction at the top in big red letters! He emails back bitching, but drops it. Now 2 weeks later, I get another email I've got 24 hours to pay him or he's leaving negative feedback...

So I paid him... then posted negative feedback on him: "Uses FB extortion to change terms after the auction."

So now I'm just waiting for him to leave the retaliatory feedback on me...

I hate scumbags that think they can change things just because they feel like it...

Why did you pay him if what you're doing now is still going to get you negative feedback?

I thought about not paying him until the 90 days... but I'd rather be the better person.

Plus now if he tries to go to paypal (to get his $1 back) or ebay, I have done everything I've said I would... plus paid him early.

I would never bother with schemes like this... just seems to invite trouble...

To those that disapprove of it, consider this...

they got 1 month free plus free hardware and $15, I got up to $50 credit... It worked out very well for everyone involved. It cost me about $16 for $50 credit.

Could they get it somewhere else - yes, if they knew someone who had it... they chose to go this route, and made money from it.

I was very clear in what I was doing... they were well aware of what was happening. Everyone (including the guy who decided to change the terms after the fact) is very happy with the deal, except maybe the 1 guy who had trouble with vonage itself and cancelled - I refunded his $1.

So where exactly is the harm?

BTW - I won't be paying a Vonage bill for about the next 27 months... So there :p

I don't dissaprove, really. I don't care, it doesn't hurt me. The fact is people in general, especially those on eBay, are too stupid to understand the concept of it.

If you were complying to the written terms of your auction and he left Neg feedback, You can have ebay remove the neg feedback.

That's just it, it doesn't hurt anyone. Vonage got advertising and new customers. I got credit. They got credit/equipment/cash back. eBay got their fees. Paypal got theirs too...

I don't buy into that people on ebay are too stupid to understand. I've was VERY clear about what was going to happen, how, and when. I got very very questions on it. But I took the time to create a listing that was very buyer friendly, I think.

Edit -
I don't see this as a "scheme" either... No one got hurt - even if I get the neg fb, who cares? In the long run it doesn't matter. Everyone wins.

Some of the FB I've been getting from it:
Just like you said it would work!! Perfect third-party referrel transaction! A+
Great deal! Thanks!! Turned the service on yesterday. Amazing!!! A++++
Excellent Ebay Experience A++++++++++++++++++
Great transaction. Would definitely deal with again.
This was a slick deal,,all parties WIN!! Thanks alot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome offer, great seller, thank you!!

The only real problem was that some saw it as a cheap way to get feedback... I solved that real quick by jumping the price up to $1 and required paypal payment immediately.

Negative feedback from some asshat on ebay is inevitable. Don't give in, just deal with the fact that nobody cares about 1 out of a 100 feedback being negative.

There are people who buy empty boxes off ebay that think they are getting the full product. Yes, people on ebay are generally stupid.
