Anybody have any info on when a "newer" line of car mp3/cd head units are coming out. Also any other brands?
Kenwood = unreliable (past experience)
Aiwa = come on...
Sony = looks cheeeeeezy
Clarion = decent
jvc = rather not
Alpine = too much $ like $800

Hope somebody has some news, I am just waiting for a good one. Wondering why pioneer has not put one out yet.?
tnx

fastcobra:

I got the JVC KD-SH99 installed in my accord. It rocks and I'd definitely recommend it. The load times between tracks is very small and the build quality is excelent. Not bad for $290. You can probably find it for cheaper now. Anyway, check out this forum for some more info on car MP3/CD players:

Good luck on the wait.. it'll be a few years until they start making reasonably good ones.. you'd be better off getting a nice normal CD player with a line input and then grab a RIO Volt so you can update the firmware constantly and be able to use WM8 and MP3Pro as well as playlists and all that.. I've decided on this route as the best for me.. sick of waiting for a good reliable MP3 Car deck that's in my price range..

you could just put a computer/laptop in your car.

i'm in the proccess of doing that now.

$150 for a 5.8" LCD screen
$50 for a laptop chassis
$20 for a proccessor
$15 for some RAM
~$40 for electrical stuff/depends on the laptop and your sound system

+the whole weekend
