man, I hate waiting for service people to show up........"we'll be there between 3 and 5". watch them come at 4:50.....

Maybe at 6 or 7 instead.

I once waited outside in the car for about 5 hours for them to come. It was a new place and we still didnt have anything inside the house so all i could do is listen to the radio.
 
Time to setup a system to estimate jobs times, then create a best guess time in the morning. Then have the guys call in as each job is completed, and update the best guess times.
 
I wish our cable guy misses appointments because our cable company gives $25 credit to us if he does. I'm at home all day anyway so I don't care - has happened twice - woohoo.
 
The cable company here (Charter) is nice enough to call 10 minutes before they leave for my house. They usually give me a two hour window, but I ask if they can call me at work before they leave and I never end up waiting more than 10 min once I get home. In the future, you might ask if they can do this.
 
he just left.....came, played around wtih the internet a bit...and said that the random downtimes on my internet is due to my old toshiba modem...advised me to get a new one....
