Huh? Just buy a card with a different quieter cooler, set a custom fan profile, power limit, undervolt, move the case further from your ears and take advantage of the physics of sound propagation through air.... there are a million things you can do now that don't involve waiting 2 years. My MSI Armor 1080ti is totally inaudible even at full tilt, for example.

The card is actually very quiet. Once I got my radiator fans under control I tried listening to the GPU during a 3dmark run and it was near silent.

Pretty happy with the cooler. Although I’ve had a few issues with Wattman and the card. I need to spend some quality time with it.

I saw it at 2:15 and it was gone by 2:33.
Under $700* too!

(*not including shipping  )

There’s a few others that have come in and out of stock today at Newegg including the MSI aftermarket blower and an XFX AIO Vega 64.

(I went fanboy this time - so yes a 1080 would have been cheaper)
What I find amazing is that, even though you paid $700 for it, you could still turn around and sell it for $1000-$1200.
I honestly don't know what kind of people are buying it, but, a friend did just that, except, he got his Vega for $800, and sold it on fleabay for $1150.
$350 profit.
That is nuts.

I know. My local frys had some 580’s and 1070’s in stock a few weeks ago. I was sorely tempted to buy them and flip them.

I think I like the Nitro better but a shorter card (and quite frankly more models) is a good thing.

I’ve managed to do a little bit of benchmarking with my Red Devil.

  • Knocked the voltage down to 1.050
  • Upped the power limit to +50%
  • Set the HBM to 900mhz
  • Upped the core clocks to peak at 1611
I went from ~ 6950 to 7275 in TimeSpy.

I still need to min/max everything so there’s more performance there. Unfortunately Wattman has tendcy to crash and leave the GPU running flat out at 1500+MHz.

How is it Newegg's fault that there are very few cards to sell?

They are the ones raising the prices. As they take the action it's their doing. It's not a hard concept. They have 20+ of the Gigabyte Vega 64 and 20+ Gigabyte Vega 56 in stock right now and have had since the 29th. The price hasn't moved even though no one is buying. It's not supply and demand. It's just Newegg like it always is.

"This means that the next generation of consumer-focused graphics, perhaps using the newer Navi architecture, will be in the mid-2019 timeframe. "

Not even surprised. I said this before that Vega wouldn't appear on desktop in a consumer GPU in Vega 11, and that there would be no Vega consumer shrink focused shrink GPU either as neither made sense performance wise. Back then it was trolling, now it's reality.

I don't even know what you do at this point if you're looking for a GPU solution you literally have no options at the high end.

AMD isn't going to ramp up production of Vega, it's going to have a similar life cycle as Fury X, except worse in terms of pricing/availability. But you'll still be able to pick it up at a bargain bin price at the end of the life cycle, for those that have Freesync monitors and need to stay in the ecosystem, that's something to look forward to down the line.

You think Newegg is bad? Newegg.ca has the 56 for $1249 and 64 for $1489 but Canada Computers has the 56 for $1349 and 64 for $1699. They're overpricing almost everything, they're even selling GTX1050Ti for over $400!

In Canada, ya'll live in some fairy tale land of insane pricing. I would smuggle GPUs across the border if I was Canadian rather than pay Canadian prices. I'm dead serious.

Newegg has the Powercolor Red Devil in stock now. 20+ at that. They were selling it for $1399 just a week ago. Now it's $1199 like the Gigabytes. Also still 20+ in stock. There are 4 different Vega 56 in stock. http://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/amd/rxvega56/ and all are still $999. Newegg is desperately trying to hold the ridiculous gouging prices. Given the ETH market readjustments and the fact that other cards are being launched, I think that February might be the light at the end of the Vega tunnel.
