Is it normal for StepUp folks to get whored for an extra $60 or is that going to be adjusted to $320 soon so folks can actually Step Up w/o getting raped?

If it is really going to be listed at $380 at eVGA's site, I might just prefer to buy one from NewEgg for $320 than to spend $60 MORE to step-up to the rip-off price at eVGA's site, based on the principle of it all. Not to mention I could always build a second rig with the 7900GT and other parts I currently have.

oh nevermind who cares they don't even cross-ship it so you're out a GPU for at least a week or two. What a joke.

it may just be for a limited time so they dont get raped themselves with thousands of requests in one day. when the g71 cores came out they had so many requests they didnt have anywhere near the stock to get everyone's order out. hopefully as they get more stock in the price will come down, but i dont remember it ever being in line with newegg's price, evga stepsup at or above MSRP, newegg eventually tries to sell at near wholesale.

On the surface, it sounds fishy don't it.
Not only do they get your old card, you gotta pay $60 more than Newegg.

I'm sure someone will chime in to explain in more detail.

Step up and trade in programs are worthless and have always been worthless.

OEMs don't want to hurt relations with retailers by undercutting their prices and OEMS don't have an effective means to sell all the cards that are traded in other than ebay. So why would OEMs set decent prices? There's no economic advantage to doing so.
