Intel will roll out Core 2 Duo E4500 in Q3, with a core speed of 2.2GHz, 2MB L2 Cache and 1066MHz FSB, priced at $133 per 1,000 units shipped. Price of E4400 will be reduced to $113 per 1,000 units shipped after the release of E4500. And E4300 will be faded out of the market.

I wonder if this site is reliable, where did the E4500 come from? never heard anything about it. I hope this site isn't just pulling some stuiff out of their *** like E4600 E4700 E4800 now E4900 etc.

Doesn't sound that hot IMO.
One of the nice things about the E4300/4400 is the 800MHz FSB which means lower multiplier, and cheaper overclocking (less expensive RAM/mobo needed to hit high speeds).
1066MHz FSB isn't that hot, but it's nice to see another drop potentially coming for the E4400.

E4500 makes no sense. There was no previous E6500 series, and a 1066 QDR doesn't fit with core clock of 2200 mhz (unless you're telling me they're going to use an 8.27 multiplier).

Actually after looking again, the link shows an E4500 with 800MHz FSB and 2.2GHz, and also an E6550 at 2.33GHz with 1066MHZ FSB/4MB cache, so it does make sense if you ignore the quote and look at the table (which I didn't do first time either :x)

It works, this puts the E6320 (with more cache and the higher fsb) just above the E4500.

Shouldn't that be a "higher" multiplier? Lower FSB (800) would require a higher cpu multiplier to obtain similar clocks as higher (1066) FSB CPU's.

This works, but I would have liked the original E6700 and maybe an E6800 to be introduced along side the same prices as the new E6x50 processors at the same pricing.

You got it coldpower27. It looks like Intel is phasing out the 1066FSB C2D this summer, including the new E6320/6420 4MB cache models? They will be squeezed out by 2.2GHz 800FSB models ($133) and 2.33GHZ 1333FSB models ($163)...

That lineup is ****** amazing. I wonder if these will be obsolete when Nahelem comes out though? I'll probably buy one anyways. I'll need the upgrade from my Opty 144 by then.
