Wait for X800XL or go 6800GT now?

I've been waiting patiently/impatiently for the past 2 months for a PCI Express card to come out in either 6800GT or X800XL. I see that the EVGA 6800GT PCI-E card is FINALLY showing up, but I'm just not sure about it over the X800XL because the 6800GT chip is "so" old.

If you had to do it what would you do? Pay $500 now for a PCI-E GT or wait possibly another 4 weeks for an X800XL? They are so close in specs it's really coming down to price but at the rate these PCI-E cards are coming out you can't save money no matter how you play it. I need some additional opinons desperately.

Thanks

Aye, and the XL's are supposed to be priced well below the GTs. Downside is that limited availability will drive prices on the XLs up too. 🙁

I just got the A8N-SLI. I did't get the board for the SLI, i got it for the chipset and features. i recently made the switch form Intel and have always been partial to ATI and Intel. The switch from Intel was tough but i made it through and i feel great 😀 I need a card to get me by till the X800 XL comes out and i decided that i was going to battle my brand loyalty issue once again and i went for the 6600 GT (just till the XL comes out). Previously i had an X800 pro and i had to use my old 9600 for a bit till i made my decision because i sold the X800 (i cried a little). Now i'm running the 6600 GT and i finally got the A8N working (if your in the market for one of these boards they require a 24 pin MOBO connector off the power supply so be ready to update to the new power supply standard ATX 2.03!). So, i have to say i'm pretty pleased with the 6600 GT. I don't over clock my video cards but i figured that since this one was just a "get me by card" i'd milk it for all the mofo was it was worth, keep in mind i was running a X800 PRO for 4 months and was feeling spoiled and i got the 6600 for just under $100 bucks(it's the SLI version worth 250)! At first the 6600 GT was a noticeably slower than than the X800 (HL2) but was way faster than the 9600 and provided support for all the eye candy so fine! Now that I have figured out the A8N\PSU\6600GT (with the overclock) I'm really excited about my setup and I'm lovin the 6600. I might keep it for a bit after the XL comes out just to see if i can get a better deal! So that's my little story. Take it for what it's worth and the best of luck to you. Anand ROCKS! and so dose my new computer that his articles helped me with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
