Wait for Penryn laptop or get the XPS M1330 now?

I am debating if I should wait for the Penryn, and then buy the M1330 assuming it's an option. The problem is that I haven't been able to figure WHEN the laptop variants will be released. Google wasn't much of a help.

I don't plan on upgrading it for at least 2-3 years. Some new features I find interesting are: SSE4 support, better Virtualization Technology (VT), and Deep Power Down low-power state.

When will the Penryn-based released for laptops?

Right after you hear about the next line of new innovations. 😉

Seriously, your decision should probably depend more on when you need/want a laptop as there will always be something better around the bend.

To answer your question, probably not soon enough to warrant waiting unless you really don't need one any time soon.

I had an M1330 and sent it back for a D630. I like the D630 MUCH better - it's built a lot better and is only *barely* wider/thicker than the m1330 while staying the same depth.

If you choose to play the waiting game you will be waiting forever. Just buy a laptop when you need it. If you don't need it right away, then wait until you do need it. As with most technology something better will always come out right after you buy so to me there's really no point in waiting.

I went ahead and bought the XPS M1330. The D630 looks nice, but it's also about a pound heavier. The M1330 has one of the best performances at a reasonable weight, although lighter would have been nice. Can't wait...!!!

Eh... good luck. I ordered mine because of all of the 'hype' - Got the LED screen and everything. It was a flimsy piece of junk (and I even got one of the 'better' ones.).
