Wait... Call of Duty 4 PS3 doesn't support Dualshock 3?

They can always add it with patches but it's an old game now. Why waste the effort? It's a crappy nadefest anyways.

It just strikes me as something so easily implemented. Numerous old games had the feature added:

If you plan ahead, it's not difficult to add in later. If you don't plan ahead, it takes a lot of effort.

No idea why Infinity Ward would have not planned ahead, especially since they did the 360 version which had rumble.

COD4 came out Nov 07 and DS3 Apr 08 in US

And at the same time they subsequently published a version which contains rumble, albeit on a different console. That means they know where and when in the game to implement it.

1. Who cares when it was released in the US? It was released in Japan in November 2007
2. It was known that it would be coming well before then, and Sony would have made the interface available to developers before it was released.

I'm actually kind of surprised by this, I had no idea there was no rumble in CoD4. I'm surprised Infinity Ward left it out.

Isn't COD4 still contending for the Xbox Live #1 most-played spot with Halo on the Xbox 360, a console with a library that is (almost to a fault) shooter-heavy? I'd say that means plenty of people are still playing the game and care.

It just feels like a slap in the face. They won't take the time to fully support an otherwise AAA product on the PS3. I bought the map pack and the game. There are tons of people playing this online and the least they could do is patch the game to support the controller fully.

Am I the only one here that hates rumble? I have it turned completely off on my 360, and the only time I ever like to use it on the PS3 is Gran Turismo and MGS4, the only two series of games that I've ever seen get rumble perfect. Any other games insist on making the rumble full-tilt only with both weights spinning wildly and no varying degrees of "wobble".

Agreed, I think it's ridiculous how may people worry about something that really doesn't make the game any better.

It's ridiculous that it's not part of the game for one system and it is for another. I am a fan of rumble. I paid the same price as the Xbox 360 version and I expect the same result.

It's also such a simple, easy addition that I shouldn't have to complain that it isn't there; I already should be.

Wasnt it all due to the lawsuit by immersion? That's why sony didnt have rumble in the axis pad in the first place. I think sony either lost or gave up and paid so they can have rumble. I think cod4 came out in the middle of all that BS.

It did, but the PS3 had rumble in Japan by the time the game came out, and other older titles have been patched to include support.

Apparently Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the 3rd most selling PS3 title in 2008 behind Metal Gear Solid 4 and Grand Theft Auto IV.

Yeah, and Infinity Ward apparently doesn't care. I guess if you want rumble, you'll have to get the 360 version.
