right now i plan on upgrading my msi k7t pro2a w/ 512 megs of pc133/pc150 ram to the epox ddr board. i'll also go for 256 megs of pc2400 crucial ram as well. if i do get the mobo + ddr ram, can i still use my cpu? i'll be getting a newer cpu (prolly palamino err, palomino). so, will this setup work?

Yes it will work, you will just have to run the FSB at 100mhz. That is why there was DDR PC1600 memory :p

according to your system rig page, it looks lke you are running your 750 t-bird at a 133mhz fsb anyway on your msi mobo. therefore, it should be no problem running it the same way on the ddr mobo (i.e. 7.5*133 with pc2100 ddr)

Even if its a 100mhz fsb, you can still run it at 133... It's just not verified by AMD.

Yes you can, just not "officially". Half the rigs on AT are oc'ed though :D

damnit, my pro2a doesnt support 133 fsb, just up to 132. so i tried 132x7.5, and my system didn't boot. what's up with this? was it the divider or what?

i did, it's unlocked. right now it's running at 10x100, and it's going fine. my ram is running by spd, and they're all at least pc133, so won't my mobo automatically select the ram speed to be 133 mhz? does it matter if i keep my cpu at 100mhz or 132 mhz?

It's because motherboards that officially support 133mhz FSB have 1/4 dividers for the PCI bus where as non-supported 133 FSB motherboards most likely have 1/3 dividers on their PCI bus. The PCI bus is suppose to run at 33mhz. 1/3 of 133 = 44mhz. At that speed, some PCI cards can be unhappy with the high PCI bus speed.

no the reason your pro 2a wont run at 133 is because its based on the KT133 chipset, not the KT133A - most KT133 boards top out at around 110 mhz FSB, no matter what the multiplier is. To get over 110 mhz FSB you need a board based on KT133A or a DDR motherboard w/ a chipset from ALi, SiS or the AMD 760 chipset. Your 100 mhz fsb tbird will work at 133 mhz fsb on a motherboard that supports 133 mhz fsb, but most likely you will need to lower the multiplier, otherwise it will be way overclocked (1 ghz would be 10x133 = 1330 mhz)

btw crucial doesn't have pc2400 yet AFAIK, i think they only have pc2100, but most everybody has been able to overclock their ram pretty well

hmm, pc2400 ram isn't on crucial's site, but other sites have it. i've been reading around and people have a few of these "crucial" sticks floating around.
