Wahts the Dif Between the 100 and 200 Series Opterons

An Opteron 150 @ 2.4ghz and w/ 1mb L2 is $599, whereas a 250 @ the same 2.4hz and 1mb L2 Cache is $799, wahts the dif, i know the 250 is better but why?

the opteron 1xx is not usable in multiprocessor systems.
the opteron 2xx supports 2 processors.
the opteron 8xx supports 8 processors.
other than that, they are the same.

The 200-series have the onboard coffeemaker controller for those new wireless Mr. Coffee ones 😎 Also, they are certified for dual-processor systems, where the 100-series are for single-processor systems.

I could be wrong about the coffeemaker controller, btw 😀

Good one mech.............. Anyway, yes the 2xx work in dual processing systems......

wow, that's a great question...

considering i really don't know how multiprocessor boards work...

how are the 1xx and 2xx different in terms of allowing multiple processors to allowing only one...

any experts out there?

Same CPU same pins... you know they just do something with the 1xx traces to make then 2xx and 8xx respectivly

I think the answer to that is no. The 100 series has 3 HT links like the 2&8 series but none of them are coherent. The coherent link/s are for communicating cache-coherency information between multiple CPUs.

DARK HELMET: What's all that bubbling and churning?
COLONEL SANDERS: We call that [slap machine] Mr. Coffee.

Thanks guys thats much help considering i was planning on building a multi cpu system, and with 1xx's that seem like it would have been a monumental task(actually proly damn neer impossible).

Thanks
