waht is NCQ?

sometimes yes, sometimes it makes things worse.

All the noobs think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread... I don't know where they get these ideas... just that acronyms = good stuff 😉

What NCQ does is (essentially) organize the order in which it accesses data to eliminate the need to spin back and forth seeking clusters. It accesses data in the most logical order for where it is on the disk. This creates a bit of overhead, but if you move data around a lot and don't like defragging, you will probably want an NCQ capable drive & mobo.
 
yes i believe ulltra d is sata 2 compatible. i recommend going to dfi-street.com they can tell you all about that board and what its capable of even hard drive benches including sata 2 drives.
 
If you'll have an ongoing task running in the background that does a lot of disk I/O, and you're going to do something else in the foreground, then NCQ might help things go smoother. I like command queueing rather a lot, having used it for about five years now, but I'm just crazy like that :evil:

I defrag my system with Diskeeper at least 5 times a day! hahah...most of the time it takes about 2 mins each defrag.
