I second the motion for a Turtle Beach. Damn fine card, and fairly cheap at that too.

Philips accoustic edge is another winner too....much better than an audigy, IMO

I have a TB Santa Cruz with the Promedia 5.1's. I was not impressed when I tried out my roommate's Audigy.

I personally use the Santa Cruz with the Klipsch 4.1's as my HTPC. ;) It's a nice setup. :D

Is this an AMD thing.I can hear ants walking across the floor :).Intels rules the sound perfromance it be a cruz or booz card.BTW how many of you tried either one lol.Just something someone typed out for you to read, try and buy is the only way to get the best product.Speakers will sound alot diff at home in the little 9x11 rooms you have.

-------------- Audigy is atrocious -----------------------

Not whatsoever. I must confess your post is lacking in literacy to such an extent that I'm really not quite sure just what point you're trying to convey.
The "frequency response" of the Audigy can be seen here. It quite humourous actually.

Not that again Beatles....

The Santa Cruz uses the same chip as the Game Theater XP, the Cirrus Logic CS4630. You can see a review here of the Audigy compared to the GT XP. The audigy outperforms it. My Audigy sounds great through the Inspire 5300 5.1 speakers that I have.

Yawn. Yepper Firingsquad are known as being true audiophiles......no measurements either.

And THG is? (Not to put down the SC, it's a great card).

Intel does not rule sound performance. They don't even have any products that deal with PC sound. They're having enough trouble with their processors as it is.

My primary use is gaming. I upgraded from a Santa Cruz to an Audigy and I would never go back. The Audigy is a fine all around sound card despite what all the anti-Creative zealots will tell you and I've never had problem with the drivers in the fours systems I've done an installation in (2 of which using WinXP). The Santa Cruz does sound a bit better with .mp3 playback and music, but that doesn't mean the Audigy is bad either.
