Well, I didn't exactly share the fact I lost my last one on here. About 2 months ago, due to all this recent political pressure and threat of sequestration, my contract I was working on had to go through a rebid as a small business contract instead of the big business I was working for. Suffice it to say, even though my old business was working with a small business to win the contract back, some other company came in and said they could do everything with half the people and half the pay. I learned of that a bit later and that the other company had actually never won any government contract before. Oh well, good luck to them I guess as I don't think they are going to have an easy time doing that job.

So that was 2 months ago and I've been looking for work since. Luckily I got a nice severance package to keep me afloat for these past few months. Otherwise I might have been a bit more screwed than I have been.

I've had a few "close" ones I thought I might have been hired for in that time frame. Several interviews that I thought went really well. Actually I got a partial offer during this time. One DoD contracting company based in DC said that while they couldn't get me into a position where I currently live, but if I was serious enough they would offer me a position in DC. The owner of the company liked my interview I did with him over the phone and his technical people. But the contract they have here they are only the sub on and the prime has control on who works on the contract here. I decided to hold off on going to DC though.

It was getting a bit frustrating as I was just not landing anything. Finally all in a rush I had a staffing firm that had contacted me a few weeks ago call me back and said that one place they submitted my resume to was looking to have a phone interview that day. That went well and they wanted a face to face the next day. Which was yesterday. That went well and by the end of the day I got my offer. On TOP of all that, I am now getting an extra $10 an hour to boot from my previous pay to be a Sharepoint developer again.

So I start Monday and am looking forward to it. Hopefully it all goes well.

If you read this much, thanks for caring.

Good luck. Hopefully you won't spend 30 days in the hole.

I quit my last job because I didn't like it, but I told them it was due to my move (a very valid reason as the distance would have been just over an hour).

3 days before my mortgage closed I landed a job at a huge company (fortunte 50) with over a $9/hr raise.

Would have been nice to get that $10 :), but since I opted for benefits they reduced my rate. Otherwise would have been a near $14/hr raise.

Go us!

$10/hr...that like $20K extra a year. congrats on the bump. Do you like being a SP dev? How long have you been one? Currently an SP admin, but want to take on more dev roles

I think my benefits are going to cost me more through this staffing firm, which is why I asked for a higher hourly base for my work with them. So while it's $10 more an hour, it's not really that much more factoring in I am probably going to be paying more for my health care. :( I think it really ends up like $6 more an hour or something like that. Still no chump change though.

I'm in San Antonio for the person that asked.

As for being an SP dev, it's alright. I do a mix of both everything really though. This new job is going to have me doing admin, architect, and dev duties though.

Too bad Obamanomics has put you through 2 months of pain. Thankfully the promise of a Romney recovery has benefited you. :)

you're retarded.

grats OP--that's a very short turnaround. Things do seem to be getting better, no?

and nice bump in pay, to boot.

I live in SA as well and am curious...can you share the name of your new employer?

Rather not jinx it at this point. Just incase. But actully, technically the employeer right now is a staffing firm for me for 6 months at least. Then I'll be hired on permanently.
