I admit that occasionally waffle fries are good... but best? Do you guys need the lattice structure because it's difficult to get oil hot enough when the ambient temp is below zero?

The greater surface area allows more areas for the oil to get into and therefore more crunch in all of the different bits of the fry. They also do not get as mealy as regular fries can sometimes get.

A local pub does waffle fries - haven't had Chick-fil-a waffle fry close to the time I've had other waffle fries, so I haven't decided who's waffle fry I like more.

That said, seasoned curly is clearly the dominant alpha fry deserving of legendary status. All others aspire to be it.
