Wacom tablets for business apps?

My work is completely done through telecommuting. I use netmeeting a lot, which is a very useful tool. I'm also a hardware design engineer, which means I have to draw many pictures (schematics, waveforms, timing diagrams, etc)

I'm looking into a tablet pc, but I think it will be much easier to convince my company to buy my team Wacom tablets which are only $100 each. Wacom

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with these? I know they're designed for graphics use, but has anyone successfully used these for business applications? I searched but couldn't find any reviews outside the graphics arts community.

Thanks

I bought one several years ago for my son's graphics art interest. You absolutely need one if you want to do any original art on the PC. We called tech support once or twice, and the girls working there said they all use graphics tablets exclusively. No mouse at all. This was a few years ago.

I'd like to get my son a bigger one, but they are mucho bucks! Good luck on selling that idea to your boss. IMO, it would be REALLY hard to switch from the mouse for applications use.

Thanks for your input.

Just to reiterate, I don't plan to replace my mouse or keyboard... just to use the peripheral when I need to draw a picture. If you're familiar with netmeeting, it should be a seamless transition between switching from say, a powerpoint presentation, to a whiteboard type of program where I can sketch with the tablet. Or even mark up my powerpoint directly

Perhaps I should just go to Fry's for a demo...

I have one. I never really used it much though. It's hard to make drawings that look good because deviations from a smooth line are amplified. Now I want to use it for a project, but I can't find the stylus!!!
