It's been awhile since my last post, but I hope you guys (and gals) can help me out.

I am running an Iwill kk266 with a Duron 700 OC'ed to 1 GHz. I recently replaced it with an XP 1700+ and put the Duron into a new computer I built for a friend. Problem is, the new computer won't post with the Duron (board is Shuttle AK32L - VIA KT266 chipset). I took the Duron out and put it back in my Iwill...boots like a champ. I put the 1700+ in the Shuttle board...it also boots just fine. Any ideas why the XP works in both boards, but the Duron only works in my Iwill?

Thanks for any help y'all can give.

I have cleared the BIOS numerous times, swapped all my hardware, tried it with only the chip, HSF, RAM, and vid card plugged in...you name it. Someone in the CPU forum mentioned some kind of incompatability between newer motherboards and older (Spitfire) core Durons. Do you know anything about that?

BTW...thanks for the response. I thought I would have more suggestions by putting this in the Tech Support forum, but it doesn't look that way. :(

Thanks again.

I would be surpised that the Spitfire Duron's would have a problem on a new board. My next guess would be check the FSB to see if it's see to 100 instead of 133, even though it o/c well on your system.

TS forum doesn't seem to have much traffic unfortunley.

The FSB defaults to 100. The reason I know this is that my 1700+ (11 x 133) is recognized at POST as an 1100 MHz CPU.

What else you got for me? ;)
