The Wayback machine has been vastly updated. Want to see what the forums looked like waaayybacck?
Here's the forums in 2000
http://web.archive.org/web/200.../forums.anandtech.com/
And here they are in 2002
http://web.archive.org/web/200.../forums.anandtech.com/

And in case your wondering what the topics were in Operating Systems in 2000 here they are:
http://web.archive.org/web/200...ategories.cfm?catid=34

How about the Hot Deals in 2000?
http://web.archive.org/web/200...ategories.cfm?catid=40
Personally I think the 8/4/32 cd burner is a steal at 128.95.

btw some of the links to the threads are clickable!

EDIT: Just in case you want to choose your own date here's the link to the links:
http://www.archive.org/web/web.php
and type in forums.anandtech.com/

Who remembers the craziness after 9/11? I do. Two weeks later is all we have though:

The dmcowen674 headline sure is a throwback.

Were there any AT members lost in WTC?

There was speculation, but none confirmed IIRC. And the dmcowen thing is all over google.
I haven't heard much from him lately. I guess they cut off his internet at Gitmo.
