W98 Profiles place files in home Directory, How do I modify this behavior?

Ok, Backend is NT 4.0, front end is W98 first edition. One of these workstations is being shared by 2 people. In order to get Outlook to work correctly for each user I had to enable W98?s version of user profiles (->control panel->users). Now Outlook works perfectly for both users. But now W98 stores files relating to each user?s settings not only in c:\windows\profiles but it also copies them into each of the 2 users? home directories on the network.

This last part is what I aim to control, I want to be able to specify the destination directory so that W98 doesn?t just clutter up the root of their personal drive. Now there is of course a field for specifying the path to a user?s profile on the server end, but that only works if the client machine is also running NT. How to modify this in W98 is today?s puzzle, any takers?

i think you have to create a config.pol file in 98 and in nt.i am not positive but check on this it might help

I haven't done that in a while, I'll look into it. But I'm quite certain that config.pol is part of W98 policies structure. Basically a pool of can/can't settings that take effect based on a user's login. I need to tame profiles ( individualized desktop/cookies/outlook/god knows what)
