W98 doesn't see all of my RAM! WTF?

I am working on a friend's box and have noticed that W98 doesn't see all of the RAM in the box. She has 1x128MB stick and 1x256MB stick and W98 reports only 284MB, not 384MB? WTF?

I don't use W98 much at all, so I would appreciate any info on correcting this issue.

What motherboard?

Does the motherboard POST show up all 384MB?

Please list contents of CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT. Certain legacy settings in these files can make RAM "disappear" for Win9x.
