I think they will release W8 in 2012 I think their just trying to hype it it will get delayed a couple months and be out in 2012. That is a long time from now for a upgrade that will bring even more bugs to 7 OS.

Windows 7 deserves a service pack 1 soon. Like now!!!

I wonder if theyll fix the windows not remaining different sizes what ever you choose all your windows open that size. stupid bug. and more bugs tweak it make it faster... and give us SP1 Microsoft uncle billy... W7 pownz all OSes in 2010 and beyond make it solid and complete and bug free with a SP1 sheez. Thank you and God Bless

Yeah... I'm just going to go ahead and lock this one too.

Microsoft says SP1 will be released in the first half of 2011. It's available in beta form for download now.

is right on the money here, there is a beta version of SP1 out,http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9179094/Microsoft_releases_Windows_7_SP1_beta .

According to previous comments by Microsoft, Windows 7 SP1 will not include any new features, but will simply be a combination of security updates already available through Windows Update, as well as non-security fixes that it's gleaned from customer feedback.

The most notable addition to Windows 7 SP1 is an updated Remote Desktop client designed to work with RemoteFX, the new remote-access platform included with Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. The latter also includes a feature dubbed "Dynamic Memory," which lets IT staff adjust guest virtual machines' memory on the fly.

Btw I do believe Microsoft are trying to get the official Win7 SP1 version out by end of this year, obviously this will be down to being ready for final release after testing etc....

Microsoft's roadmap is currently 2012 for Windows 8 which is a 3 year cycle they aim to hit. As already mentioned SP1 is already beta and will probably be final in Q1 2011.

There is no chance they'll release W8 in 2010.

Used Vista Ultimate and Win7 Ultimate and I just can't deal with the annoyances both these OSs offer.

Persoanlly, I want a Windows XP2, not SP2, but a new EDITION #2 of Windows XP (the original 2001 build), refined for new support of new/old hardware and still backwards compatible with most 32-bit programs.

If Microsoft could make Windows 8 exactly like Windows XP with bug fixes and stronger security without the UAC (mostly crap), I would totally opt for it, all with extremely minor enhancements and maintaining originality in user interface... I would totally opt for it.

Windows XP completely dies in 2014, so we still have a few years, as of today, XP users.

It somewhat fascinating to see the repeated posts complaining about things just for the sake of complaining.

There are specific small issues with Windows 7 that need to be addressed, most of them are related and come from IT people that do something real with the computer.

There close to null real problems with regular End-users.

Lack of features that used to be done in one way or another are not a SP issues. In most cases, they are psych problems of people who have difficulties adapting and changing few small habits.

If one needs re-sizable Folder’s Windows that keep the size, One does not need you wait for SP.

This free thingy will do it, http://www.sevenforums.com/customiz...rfix-manage-folder-window-positions-size.html

windows 7 is one big joke in my opinion.
Some call is XP DRM version.
I would much rather have XP than this crap.

I just love to see the morons on tv this is my idea.
YEA it sure seems like it.

I love how they show the people its protection by asking them each time if its ok to run this program.
I wonder if in the entire world a person would go.
YOU KNOW I just don't trust word today. I don't think I should let it run.
I know turn it off...thats not the point ms is selling smoke and mirrors and telling people this is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

3 year cycle they aim to hit

yes the red box will be out in 2012 the blue box in 2015.
Just like every beta tester of access said loose the ribbon..OH NO that is an enhancement.
So even things no one wants MUST be left in..it shows the computer noobs what good programs are like.
NO WAIT good programs and os's ask they don't tell
