I have tried numerous times to clean install W2K to my system but everytime the setup failed to save the settings during the final stage of installation. The system will either freeze or auto reboot and I have to reenter all the setup info (serial # etc) again and again .. any idea why? Thanks.

EDIT - Problem solved by setting the HD PIO Mode to Mode 2 in the BIOS

Might be a hardware incompatibility. I had a similar problem, could not install Win 2K until I took out my modem. After that install went fine, and I was able to put the modem back in after the install and have it recognized and work fine.

At what point in the install does it stop? For me the clue was that it was during the setup of Com+ services.

Dim, I have only HD, CDRW, FDD, Geforce2 MX and CPU installed. No modem and no sound card.
The installation stop at the final stage, the saving settings right before setup delete temporary files. It registers all components but failed to save the settings thus making me repeating the process over and over again. I have no clue!
