I know, I know... when everybody is wanting to MAKE a successfull dualboot, I want to UNMAKE it. But I am not crazy...

I already use a bootmanager (www.xosl.org) and ever I choose to boot my FAT32 partition (Win Me), the Win2k dual boot menu pops up and I must to do another selection. And when I try to boot the NTFS partition, it doesn't boot.

What files need I edit to boot each OS separately?

Go to Control Panel, to System Properties, Advanced Tab

Go to Startup And recovery...

And click on Display OS for 30 seconds and disable it...

hopefully that'll help u

If you are only booting between Win2K/NT and Win9x/ME, there is no need to use XOSL or anything else. No matter what happens, you will still get the second boot menu if both OSes see the same C: drive.

So, what do you do?

I would try to repair the Win2K boot sector by booting with the Win2K CD. There should be an option to repair the install and you'll only need to repair the boot sector. If this works really well, XOSL will be gone and the Win2K boot loader will work with Win2K and Win9x.

SUO,

I not only want to use XOSL, I NEED it. I run W2K, WMe, Conectiva Linux and W98SE. I plan to add OS/2 warp 4 (Yeah! I love museums!)and BeOS soon. I know it seems insane, but I love these experiences! So this bootmanager is like a glove to my hand.

I just want to know what I need edit on msdos.sys, boot.ini, and some boot files like these. I think it may be quite simple mission, not requiring other rescue procedures.

But thanks!
P.S.: SUO, I hope someday I will write that partitioning guide...

FWIW, I use Win2K's boot loader to quad-boot between Win2K, WInME, BeOS, and Linux. I just don't have the drive space for anything else. :)

Bootpart from www.winimage.com is a rather handy utility for helping me do this.

Anyhoo, I would repair WIn2K+Win9x/ME first, then try adding the other OSes with whatever tool you desire.
