W2K with SP1 included install question ...

Bought W2K and it has SP1 included. With this SP1 included, is W2K going to install the correct i815 drivers as well as support the ATA100 when installed ?

As far as I know, support for ATA100 will not be until SP2. As far as the newest drivers for the i815, I would look at the driver signing to see what the latest build is, then compare it with what is on Intel's site.

may be an old driver...just d/load the correct drivers for your mobo and have them handy during installation. Install the ATA 100 controller as a SCSi device by pushing f6 when the OS calles for it

Ok, thanks for the info. One more though, ... When W2K is installed, how do you update the drivers say for the i815 ? Last night I did install this W2K and after tried to update with the latest Intel drivers but W2K crashed and wouldn't recover useing the " r " option. So I reinstalled W2K this morning thinking that the SP1 was current. Is the only way to be current is reinstall W2K and hit F6 to use the current Intel drivers ?

Pressing F6 will allow you to install additional disk controllers that Windows setup might not find. The drivers you are trying to install, are they the chipset drivers, or are they the IDE controller drivers?

If you really do not get any ansers from this board on what to do, I would visit Intel's. They have a really good monitored board by techs that will answer your question fast .here

Thanks for the help. Didn't find anything though. I'll post a new topic reguarding W2K and updating the i815e/ep chipset through W2K with newest drivers.

Thanks.
