As a part time system builder I have unstalled numerous W2k sustems in small businesses and on home computers and while W2k is of course by far the best system right now because of mainly stability I find people continually cpmplaining about the speed of startup.
can any on etell me if it is possible to speed up W2k start?

Many Thanks

Uninstall/Disable all unnecessary services and all that kind of stuff. You can get a tweak program for 2K to mess around with it. But then again, since 2000 is so much more stable, why do you need to restart it so often that an extra 30 secs will make a diff? 🙂

Hope this helps:

Check for any NON necessary software running on bootup.
Turn off all unneeded services. Remove any unneeded start menu items (my favorite is that annoygin AOL tray icon).

Look into more ram if need be, but once you disable un-needed services and startup items it should go pretty fast.
