I got it from the Neowin site, installed it and guess what? Yup, problems.

Firstly, I can't post to newsgroups in Outlook Express, a box comes up saying: 'No connection to the internet is currently available. To view internet content which has been saved on your computer, click Work Offline. Click Try Again to attempt to connect'.

When I click try again, then I can read them, but can't post replies.

Another possibly more worrying thing is that later on, Norton AV flagged up a virus warning from C:\WINNT\system32\iexplore32.exe, saying Backdoor.sdbot

I went into safe mode and deleted it and it hasn't affected anything, so what's it all about, I wonder?

LOL!!

I have no idea if it's an Outlook Express problem or an SP4 problem, all I know is that it was working fine until SP4 went in.

However, I've pencilled in a reformat for this weekend, so that everything's fresh and no conflicts, so I'll report back here if it's ok, or if the problem persists.

That could quite likely be your problem right there. When you reformat, get it from the official location: Microsoft's site.

Yeah, jliechty, I suspected that too, especially when I checked out the link that spyordie007 posted. The list was all news to me, since I'm not a gamer and I don't use Photoshop or ACDSee.

So today, I downloaded direct from MS and like I said, I'm aiming for a reformat at some point over the next couple of days, so I'll install in a logical order and see what happens then.

Tell you what though, if it did come from the Neowin download, there's gonna be a fair bit of that worm going about, so keep your guard up!

Cheers.

Michael.
