W2k shutdown problems w/ Duron 600 / Abit KT7

I recently threw out my MB/CPU and threw in an un-o/ced Duron 600 on a KT7. Every thing's fine and dandy on both WME and W2k. Behchmarks run endless loops, games play good, burning CDs and other apps run fine.

In the end though, 9 times out of 10, W2k refuses to shutdown/restart and simply freezes. All the desktop icons simply dissappear and the usual window that pops up telling you that it's saving your settings dosen't appear. Strangly enough, my mouse still works. Hitting ctrl alt del dosen't work. In the end, I simply do a hard reset and boot into ME to run scandisk on my W2k partition. W2k dosen't seem to detect an improper shutdown and boots normally. After scandisk is done in ME, it reports that there were 'errors found and fixed all of them'.

Wassup with my W2k? Oh yeah, I installed the service pack, high encrypt pack, VIA 4in1 drivers (for my KT7) and AMD AGP registry patch.
