So far, I have tried going from a VIA chipset board, then to a BX, tried different memory, in all slots, changed the NIC, video card, etc. to W2K certified. Only that is not is the Promise Fasttrack 66 controller
What happens is our server locks up on a large number of cross-network file transfers or file searches. Otherwise it works fine. Asus told me to update the VIA drivers which did not help, so I switched to a P3B-F.
P3B-F, P3-550 not overclocked, 392MB Crucial PC133, W2K Server no Service Packs (did not fix anything), Promise Fasttrack66, Linksys 10/100 NIC.
The network is 1 server and 5 workstations with a Linksys 4-port router and one hub. The lockups can happen when using any workstation, no matter W2K or Win98.
Any thoughts would be appreciated because the manufacturer's have no clue.
