W2k & Removable Disk Problem

Have dualboot 2k & 98se system on 20G WD partitioned in 2 drives. On secondary channel have a Sparq eide 1.0G removable disk drive. When I backup under 98 to sparq everything works great, as each disk is filled I hit eject button at prompt place fresh media and continue on till complete. Under 2k after first disk is full, I cannot eject disk with the button, only by going to explorer and right click and eject, which corrupts the backup. I need to backup data so I can move drive to new system & format for 2k only install. Any help is appreciated. I have installed 2k sp1 and the hotfix for removable media and NTFS although my system is FAT32.
