W2K recognising 20.5GB HD as 8.4GB

Just installed WD 20.5GB HD as a slave to a Maxtor 15GB HD. W2K recognises WD HD as 8.4GB. BIOS and W2K setup disks see correct size of drive but not W2K itself. I didn't have this problem with my Maxtor drive. Any ideas???

Did you format the drive correctly?

Right click on My Computer, select Manage, then go to Disk Management. That should tell you exactly what is going on with the hard drive.

I figured out what was wrong with the drive. I feel such a shmok! When I put the jumpers on the hard drive to tell it with it was a slave or a master I configured them for a 9 pin drive when it is a 10 pin drive.
