w2k networking

I'm having problems networking my machines:
Got 3 workstations -- 2 are w2k and 1 XP

I'm primarily concerned w/the 2k machines though.
I've got them networked sharing broadband and they see eachother (even XP).
However, I can't login to another computer to grab files when they are shared. I get the "incorrect username and password" message and a chance to type another in (none work). I have a feeling it has something to do w/permissions but no configs seems to work. Of course file and print sharing are initialized. I'm not sure what direction to go now.... any ideas???

I think it has something to do with enabling guest accounts w/ user/pw... but i'm not sure. Let's wait for someone who knows to post.

You need to create user accounts on each computer unless you are using a domain. Then you only need one computer to controll all the user accounts. That computer is called the PDC or the Primary Domain Controller. If you don't set up the user accounts properly, you'll never share anything. That's why win2k, NT has better security then win98

Its asking for your Guest account password. Most times this account is disabled, and if not then I would disable it myself as its a security risk. Add the other users to each machine (time consuming, but the best way in the end) using the same username and passwords that they use to log on to their boxes.

Its an authentication thing.

i had guest accounts disabled on both machines, that was my problem.

anyways i'll create specific accounts b/c of the security risk
