W2K - multiple All users/Default user profiles

Is there any way to remove multiple instances of "All users" & "Default users" profiles?
I suspect the doubling up may occur when W2K freezes up during an install...but how do you get rid of the extra profiles without reinstalling again?

When I attempt to delete a profile that is appended with .WINNT I receieve the following warning:
This is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows to run properly. It cannot be deleted.
