W2k Issues

I just bought my 1.4 T-bird running on W2K Pro and for some strange reason Microsoft Internet Explorer locks up after certain situations, such as: multiple windows of Explorer are open, scrolling down in Explorer and when multiple but not many apps are running along with Explorer. This is really irritating and usually solved after logging out and logging back in or restarts. But I need a solution! My 1.4 is running on the ECS K7S5A with 512 megs of DDR ram....Any help is appreciated...

sorry my friend i don't have any real solutions for you, however, i would recommend that you reinstall internet explorer, or just install netscape navigator version 4.78, the most stable browser i have ever used. you can get a copy of it where i work...www.education.ucsb.edu
i am considering to getting that motherboard and the 1600 combo from vikingstores. how is it? are you happy with the speed? i do not have ddr ram, but i do have 256 mb sdram that i have just purchased... should i trade it in with ddr ram? what do you think?

bayballas, are you having stability problems with any other programmes or just IE?

I would suggest a reinstall of IE (I prefer IE5.5 with IE Service Pack 2 over IE6). I would also ensure you have Win2K Service Pack 2 installed.

See if that solves anything.

Unfortunately the odd happenings with Internet Explorer are not very consistent, so it's really hard to tell if the reinstall will fix it or not...I guess only time will tell.

holdomedo - I am definitely happy with the speed, even though it isn't overclocked. I would recommend going for the DDR because it's nice to know that I always have extra ram in my rig. But being that you already have the ram you might as well take advantage of the mutliple ram capabilities of the K7S5A especially with ram as cheap as it is now.
