I'm trying to do a fresh install of W2K pro. My boot drive will be a scsi seagate x-15 36Lp. I've seen alot of possible reasons for this in searching. From bad hard drive to bad ram to mis-alignment of planets but nothing definitive. My ram is Corsair, mobo is Tyan tiger mpx.

I am using the four boot floppies. First floppy works fine, the second starts to load then I get the error message. Thanks for any help.

update: I got the same result on my old P2450 machine with an IDE boot drive.

I emailed myself a setupdd.sys file from one of the NT4 machines at work and swapped it with the one on the boot floppy #2. It worked after I renamed it to setupdd.sy_ (all the files on the boot floppy are named *.sy_ )

The boot floppy #2 now works fine. I'm about to go try it on my new machine.
