well.. there is a program called iso buster... basically make the cd a iso. then isobuster extracts it to harddrive from there you can install it from your harddrive
I wasn't thinking along the lines of ISO Buster, more just accessing the CD in DOS and copying a folder over to the hard drive, then installing. I know that the \win98 folder is the one in 98, then you run "setup/ie" and it goes from there. A guess: the \i386 folder in w2k? I'm copying it now and it has been going FOREVER, so I'm not usre if it's the right one.
Justcopy the directory of windows 2000 pro to the hdd then when you want to install go into the win2k folder(thats whatI named it) then in to the I386 folder and just type winnt and your off.

So do I need more than just the \i386 folder copied over to the hard drive or will that do?
First copy smartdrv.exe(it's in the Windows directory on a Windows 98 machine)to your boot disk. Boot the new machine with your boot disk and run smartdrv from the A:\>. Then copy the I386 directory from your Cd to the hard drive. Change directories to the I386 directory and type "WINNT". This should start the setup and you should be on your way. If you don't run smartdrv.exe, it will take you forever to run your install.
Yes, the only directory you need is the i386 directory.
In addition, run smartdrv.exe twice. For some reason, I always have to run it twice for it to do anything, and that was on over three systems.
